The Course in Gender Equity is Australia’s first accredited gender equity training program. The Course will equip individuals with the knowledge, skills and solutions to engage in gender equity work and identify and address gender equality issues in the workplace.

Gender inequality is a recognised social issue in Australia, as evidenced by the plethora of national, state and local strategies, plans and legal instruments developed to address it at its core.

The Course in Gender Equity has been accredited under Part 4.4 and 4.6 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 with the Victorian Registration & Qualifications Authority (VRQA), accreditation period 1 Aug 2019 to 31 July 2024.

The Course was developed with the support of the Victorian Government.

Unit overview

This unit from the Course in Gender Equity supports the attainment of skills and knowledge to identify and reflect on the gendered elements within own work role. The unit also supports application of an intersectional approach to applying a gender lens to own work role.

It includes the development of skills to identify the impacts of gender inequities on own work role, as well as the ability to identify continuing networking and professional learning needs to build one’s ability to contribute to gender equity work in own work role.

This unit applies to practitioners and professionals with varying degrees of responsibility working in roles that require an understanding of gender equity. This unit enhances the ability to reflect on own performance and ability to contribute to gender equity work within known work environments and work practices.

Unit nominal hours are 18 hours.
