This short course explores what sexual harassment looks like in the workplace, what the drivers are and the gendered nature of this type of workplace harassment. You will look at the rights and responsibilities of employees and employers and what can be done to address sexual harassment in the workplace.

This short course explores the serious issue of sexual harassment in the workplace and the gendered nature of this abuse of power.

On completion of this course you will be able to:

  • Recognise the gendered nature of sexual harassment
  • Identify the underlying drivers of sexual harassment
  • Understand /Recognise your rights in the workplace
  • Apply strategies to prevent sexual harassment

Modules

This short course has three modules followed by a final assessment.

  • Module 1: What is Sexual Harassment
  • Module 2: Causes of Sexual Harassment
  • Module 3: Preventing Sexual Harassment in the workplace
  • Assessment

Time and assessment

This short course will take approximately one and a half hours to complete.

There are a number of practice activities at the end of each module to help you check your knowledge.

You will be assessed at the end of the course. For this final assessment, you have an unlimited number of attempts, but you must score 80% to complete this course.

On completion of this course a digital badge will be issued. A digital badge is an authenticated, online representation of the knowledge acquired and can be shared via a range of online platforms.

Why do this course

The 2016 Australian Bureau of Statistics Personal Safety Survey found that approximately 1 in 2 women had experienced sexual harassment in their lifetime. Preventing violence against women, including sexual harassment in the workplace is everybody’s business. All employees deserve the right and ability to fully participate in the workforce and achieve their career aspirations.

This Microcredential is an online credential that has been developed by industry for industry, ensuring their relevance to the professional development needs of the emerging workforce contributing to gender equality and the prevention of violence against women in the workplace. This Microcredential is suitable for any person who seeks an understanding and awareness of gender equity and the prevention of violence in the workplace.
