This workshop is designed to support you to respond to an initial disclosure of family violence or sexual harassment in a safe and supportive way within the workplace.  

In 2024, Respect Victoria and Safe and Equal are working together to support local community engagement with the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence. Women’s Health Victoria is able to provide this training for free as it has been funded under Respect Victoria’s 16 Days of Activism grassroots initiative.

You will build your capability to support co-workers who are experiencing family violence and or sexual harassment. This is especially important as disclosures of gendered violence are common after or during violence prevention training and/or workplace change programs. 

The Respect@Work 2020 Positive Duty requires workplaces to act positively to prevent sexual harassment from occurring, rather than reacting after unlawful conduct occurs. This workshop is the first step in putting strong workplace practices into place.  

On completion of this workshop you will have: 

  • knowledge of family violence and sexual harassment  
  • understanding that family violence and sexual harrassment are a workplace issue 
  • developed the ability to provide an initial response to disclosures in the workplace 

Workshop structure 

This workshop will take approximately 3 hours to complete 

  • 3.5 hour interactive session 
  • Certificate issued at completion. 

The workshop does not include an assessment but does require active engagement by participants in session activities. 

Each delivery is capped at 20 participants. 

Target audience 

This workshop is designed for all levels of staff and will assist them to develop appropriate responses to an initial disclosure of family violence or sexual harassment. 

Prerequisite knowledge 

A desire to provide appropriate responses to disclosures of family violence or sexual harassment in the workplace.
